Cyber Cheyenne 2025:
Strengthening Community Forces In Cybersecurity
Cyber Cheyenne 2025, a regional conference on advancing cybersecurity and strengthening the tech community, will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at Laramie County Community College, hosted by Wyoming ISSA and Northern Colorado ISSA (Information Systems Security Association) Chapters.
Cyber Cheyenne 2025 is a unique regional event intended to strengthen community forces. Led by experts in the region, the Conference provides a platform for technology professionals, business owners, policy makers, and community members to share their experiences and learn from industry experts on real-world cases. It features a dedicated track for owners of small and medium-sized businesses, encouraging conversations about protecting critical information and systems. Each track offers fresh insights and enables attendees to enhance their cybersecurity efforts at all levels.
Dr. Kelley Misata, Founder of Sightline Security and President of OISF, will deliver the keynote, Mission Possible: Securing Nonprofits in an AI-Driven World. A recognized leader in cybersecurity strategy and nonprofit resilience, Dr. Misata blends technical expertise, business acumen, and personal advocacy to help organizations integrate cybersecurity into their missions while championing privacy, digital safety, and equity in technology.
Early conference arrivals may also register to tour the NCAR Supercomputing Center.
One of the highlights of Cyber Cheyenne 2025 will be the announcement of the winners of the 2025 Cybersecurity Competition. Launched by CyberWyoming in 2018, this competition promotes best practices in cybersecurity among Wyoming small businesses through the innovative Made Safe in Wyoming™ program.
As the only competition of its kind, it has garnered national and international acclaim, earning the prestigious Gula Tech Foundation Award in February 2022.
This year’s Conference summit sessions explore cutting-edge issues in cybersecurity, from defending against AI-driven threats and navigating deepfake technology to strengthening the human side of cyber defense and closing talent gaps through academic–industry partnerships. Attendees will also gain practical skills in compliance, threat detection, and communication, as well as insights from other diverse fields. “These sessions tackle the most urgent and emerging challenges facing our community today,” said Summer Wasson, Wyoming ISSA Club Member. “I’m excited to see how our speakers will equip attendees with both the tools and the mindset to meet these challenges head-on.”
Cyber Cheyenne 2025 aims to foster a sense of community among attendees and encourage ongoing collaboration to strengthen the region’s cybersecurity efforts. “Participants will leave not only with actionable cybersecurity resources but also with the confidence that they are part of a supportive, tech-focused community,” said Matt Fields, chairman of the city of Cheyenne Technology Advisory Council. “The conference is about helping people protect their organizations while fostering meaningful connections across the region,” said Fields.
“We are grateful for the help from the Wyoming ISSA Chapter and the Northern Colorado ISSA Chapter, as well as our Premiere Sponsor, Laramie County Community College, for bringing this conference to the region,” said Wasson. “We also extend our thanks to CyberWyoming and the CyberWyoming Alliance for their continued support.”
Special thanks go to Visit Cheyenne for donating the lanyards and conference swag bags, helping create a welcoming and fun experience for attendees. Cyber Cheyenne 2025 is also proudly sponsored by Casper College, the Rocky Mountain Cybersecurity Symposium (RMCS), CyberWyoming, and the CyberWyoming Alliance.
