Cyber Grandma
Keren Meister-Emerich of Cheyenne
At CyberWyoming, we love highlighting individuals who embrace technology in innovative ways, and Keren Meister-Emerich of Cheyenne is a perfect example. Recently featured in the Cowboy State Daily (CSD) for owning a Tesla Cybertruck, Keren’s story goes beyond just driving an advanced vehicle—she’s leveraging technology to its fullest, making her a true Cyber Grandma!
From Interview to AI-Powered Insights
After her CSD interview, Keren didn’t just stop at reading the article—she took it to the next level. Using Zoom’s AI Companion, she recorded and transcribed her interview, then uploaded the transcript along with her Facebook post (7 Things I Learned in the First 7 Days of Owning a Cybertruck) and Cybertruck specs to Notebook LM, a Google product created a podcast of her interview.
During our interview with her, she demonstrated the tool using CyberWyoming Alliance’s Hacker’s Brief, a weekly publication summarizing online and phone scam reports from Wyomingites and national alerts. The result? A concise, informative cybersecurity podcast that we at CyberWyoming found incredibly realistic!
“Having never heard of an AI generated podcast, I was amazed at how realistic the voices sound,” said Natalie Demple of CyberWyoming.
Expanding Podcasting for Education
Now, Keren is experimenting with these AI-generated podcasts to help her doctoral students at Walden University access lessons on the go.
“I wanted to try the AI podcast to see if I could come up with a way for students to listen to the statistics lesson in their car going to work or making dinner at night,” said Keren.
Cybertruck Adventures: A Learning Experience
During her interview with CyberWyoming, Keren shared an amusing but insightful story about driving across the country in her Cybertruck:
“While driving to Michigan on I-80, my husband started complaining about the cruise control turning off unexpectedly. He thought maybe it was the shadows from the semis causing the issue. After some research, we discovered that the truck had updated the night before to include self-driving mode. My husband was signaling to pass and manually changing lanes before the Cybertruck would have done it on its own, thus turning off the cruise control. Once we figured it out, we realized we love self-driving! You can rest your hands lightly on the steering wheel instead of gripping it tightly, and you experience less eye strain because you can look from side to side,” she said.
Keren’s Favorite Cybertruck Features
- The Frunk (Front Trunk): Perfect for picnics!
- Windshield Angle: Less bug splatter compared to traditional vehicles.
- While on a road trip, my granddaughter can stream videos to watch while seated in the back seat.
Least Favorite Feature: The oversized single windshield wiper—too big and annoying!
Keren’s AI Tool Tips
Keren loves discovering tools that make her life easier. Here are a few she’s using:
- Adobe Reader’s AI Assistant – As a teacher, Keren asks her students to find articles illustrating class concepts, like multiple regression. She then uploads the article link into AI Assistant, asks whether it truly fits the topic, and gets citations from the article to verify its accuracy.
- Napkin.ai – During the interview, Keren took a scam from the Hacker’s Brief and used Napkin.ai to generate an infographic about it. She then used screen capture tools to review and refine the design.
A Lifelong Learner
Keren teaches a doctoral class at Walden University on Quantitative reasoning (statistics) and is a former high school computer science teacher. She embodies the spirit of curiosity and technological exploration.
“I love learning, and I love finding tools that make my life easier. If you look up ‘lifelong learner’ in the dictionary, my name and picture would be next to it,” she said.
Keren’s adaptability, tech-savviness, and commitment to education make her a fantastic role model for all generations. We at CyberWyoming are inspired by her ability to integrate AI tools into everyday life, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll do next!
