CyberUSA Partners with Cyber Readiness Institute, ISC2, and Cybersecurity Collaborative

Washington, DC., February 8, 2019 – CyberUSA, a consortium of cyber-focused communities across 28 states (and counting), announced three new partnerships at its second annual national congress to bring greater expert content and discounted certifications to its national network of companies, academic institutions and nonprofits.

CyberUSA,, was formed in October of 2016 as a “community of communities” and has expanded rapidly by unifying various state and local groups organized to drive cyber workforce and education, cyber innovations, and cyber-based economic development. Gov. Tom Ridge, the first US Secretary of Homeland Security, serves as the consortium’s honorary chairman.

The new CyberUSA partnerships include:
1)     The Cyber Readiness Institute, which produces information materials to help small- and medium-sized businesses equip and defend themselves from cyber intrusions and in order to qualify for participation in global supply chains;
2)     Global cyber certification leader (ISC)2 will provide discounted certifications to the members of all CyberUSA affiliate organizations in an effort to accelerate the upskilling necessary to fill an estimated 1 million open cybersecurity jobs in the United States; and
3)     The Cybersecurity Collaborative, a collection of pre-eminent US cybersecurity subject matter experts who provide a private, confidential platform to give our affiliates advice and insight on a full range of cyber challenges confronting todays small IT/Security Teams and SMBs. Through this partnership we will make their products available at discounted rates to CyberUSA affiliates.

 “Today’s new partnerships will equip the members of our national network with the information and insight they need to better defend their informational assets and private data,” said David Powell, co-founder and Vice Chairman of CyberUSA, and CEO of FBC, Inc. “And the (ISC)2 certifications that are so often required for higher level cyber jobs will now be more affordable to CyberUSA affiliated organizations.”

Other corporate partnerships already operated by the group include TruSTAR, a threat intelligence platform in use by the state-based communities in the CyberUSA network, and the Risk Cooperative, a risk and insurance advisory firm.

“This is consistent with our mission to bring the best content and services to the national network so that they can drive improvements in their local cybersecurity community,” said Phil Bond, former US Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology and the group’s executive director. “As our network grows it is even more imperative that we bring the very best in thought leadership to our local community groups. These new partners help us do just that.”

“The Cybersecurity Collaborative was founded by a group of Industry-Leading CISOs that with our Community Membership Leadership Council created these forums so security professionals that wear multiple hats can be immediately updated by Fortune 1000 subject matter experts on cyber challenges they face” I am looking forward to Co chairing our new CyberUSA Advisory Board for the Cybersecurity Collaborative with Phil Bond to further define how we can help the local cybersecurity communities be stronger and safer.” said Stuart Cohen Chief Executive Officer, Cybersecurity Collaborative.
