October’s 6-hour Facebook outage triggered a mass exodus of users from Facebook’s WhatsApp messaging service. The Signal and Telegram secure messaging platforms reported they were struggling to keep pace with the deluge of new users. Telegram’s CEO and founder, Pavel Durov, said that more than 70 million new users joined Telegram in a single day following Facebook’s outage.
