National Apprenticeship Day 2025

The U.S. Department of Labor announced that National Apprenticeship Day 2025 will take place on April 30 as a one-day event during a transitional year for National Apprenticeship Week, shifting the celebration to a new springtime schedule before the full week returns from April 26 to May 2, 2026.

Now in its 11th year, National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) brings together partners from across the country—employers, labor organizations, industry leaders, apprentices, educators, government agencies, and community advocates—to recognize the value of Registered Apprenticeships in building the highly skilled, diverse workforce our economy demands.

The Power of Registered Apprenticeships

National Apprenticeship Day 2025 highlights how Registered Apprenticeship programs open pathways to high-quality, in-demand careers while helping employers across industries like advanced manufacturing, healthcare, cybersecurity, and clean energy meet urgent workforce needs.

“Registered Apprenticeships are more than just training programs—they’re game changers,” said Laura Baker, Executive director of CyberWyoming. “Employers create their own pipeline of talent, building loyalty and engagement. Out of the 23 apprentices in our sponsored program, only 2 have left their employer. In the world of tech, that is excellent retention.”

CyberWyoming’s Apprenticeship Programs: Results and Retention

CyberWyoming is a sponsor of two technical apprenticeship programs including Cybersecurity Support Technician and IT Specialist. In 2025, employers in the program rated the program an average of 4.9 out of 5 stars. Comments included “They [our employees] have more of an idea about how the business runs and what impact their roles play.” and “I’m seeing positive growth.”

Also a sponsor, mentor, and trainer, in June 2023 CyberWyoming launched a third Registered Apprenticeship program for business advisors called Cybersecurity Business Counseling (CBC) for Micro Businesses. This includes online and in person training to encourage existing business consultants to incorporate data privacy and cybersecurity into their day to day advice. The Wyoming SBDC, Mississippi SBDC, and EDC/SBDC of Ventura County California have all entered the program.

“It isn’t enough to just have tech professionals know about tech. They don’t work with the data on a day to day basis like regular employees do in every business, so adding the CBC Registered Apprenticeship truly fulfilled our mission to secure small businesses across the state,” said Baker.

In 2024, NAW celebrated its 10th anniversary with over 2,500 events and proclamations across all 50 states and several U.S. territories, highlighting a decade of growth, innovation, and impact. In response to nationwide feedback and a desire to align with academic and business calendars, NAW now shifts to a spring schedule—with April 30, 2025, set as a national day of recognition.

Wyoming: A Model for Apprenticeship Innovation

States like Wyoming continue to lead the way, using Registered Apprenticeships to support economic growth and workforce transformation. From expanding tech and STEM-related apprenticeships to investing in trades and clean energy, Wyoming demonstrates how local leadership and national support can work hand-in-hand to create opportunity for all.

Wyoming’s efforts in 2024 were a standout example of what’s possible, with targeted expansion in fields like cybersecurity and robust collaborations with educational institutions and industry partners.

As the nation continues to invest in workforce development and equitable access to quality jobs, the Department of Labor remains committed to promoting the Registered Apprenticeship model as a proven strategy to advance both worker opportunity and business competitiveness.
