National Apprenticeship Week 2023 Recap

From CyberWyoming and the cyberwyoming alliance

Multiple events were held in Wyoming during November to promote and discuss apprenticeship opportunities. Each event offered unique insights, from educational webinars to community-oriented events and governmental acknowledgments, aimed at promoting and discussing apprenticeships in Wyoming.

Teacher Webinar

The SAFAL Partners, CYAI (Cybersecurity Youth Apprenticeship Initiative), the State Apprenticeship Office, the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, CyberWyoming, and the Wyoming Department of Education joined forces to educate about internship, pre-apprenticeship, and apprenticeship opportunities for Wyoming students.

Participants learned how to incorporate apprenticeship standards and structured learning plans into their class curriculum.

Proclamation, Pizza and Play!

CyberWyoming and CyberWyoming Alliance held a community apprenticeship proclamation signing event at the Science Zone, 222 Collins Drive, Casper!

Pizza, food, and a giveaway were sponsored by Microsoft!

Participants had the opportunity to learn to play the University of Texas’s (San Antonio) Cyber Threat Defender game and received a deck of cards courtesy of Microsoft!

Wyoming Department of Education Webinar

Teacher resources panel about internship, pre-apprenticeship, and apprenticeship for students (and teachers).

How to prepare your students for a technical apprenticeship and understand the distinctions among internships, pre-apprenticeships, and apprenticeships in the field of technology. Guide your students in crafting internship grant proposals to independently secure tech-related positions within your community. Additionally, is there such a thing as apprenticeships for teachers? DWS Women in Apprenticeship Industries Virtual Panel

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) hosted a panel discussion that addressed the benefits, successes, and challenges of Registered Apprenticeship Programs in Wyoming.

Five influential women in Wyoming, recognized as pioneers in apprenticeships, discussed the state of Registered Apprenticeships in Wyoming. The panel, which featured Mike Broad, Christie Goertel, Laura Baker, Stevie Osborn, and Megan Lane, addressed the changing landscape of apprenticeships and offered insights on overcoming the unique challenges faced by women in such roles.

DWS Apprenticeship Hub Tour

The event introduced the first-of-its-kind hub for all things Registered Apprenticeship: the Wyoming Apprenticeship website,! Search for apprenticeship programs in Wyoming, browse a directory of one pagers and informative handouts, learn how to get a Registered Apprenticeship program started and more! There was also allocated time at the end for Q&A.
