Wyoming ISSA Leads Wyoming Tech on National Leadership Day

On National Leadership Day, February 20, individuals and organizations across the country, including Wyoming ISSA, will demonstrate the power of leadership by stepping up to inspire change, foster innovation, and strengthen their communities.

National Leadership Day serves as a reminder that leadership extends across all fields, including cybersecurity. This commitment to leadership was exemplified when Wyoming ISSA, a chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)®, formed in 2017 to support cybersecurity awareness, education, and innovation across the state.

“Leadership is central to ISSA’s mission, and National Leadership Day serves as a strong reminder of our duty to mentor, educate, and support the cybersecurity community. Wyoming ISSA remains committed to strengthening the state’s cybersecurity resilience by actively engaging in community education initiatives,” said Scott Cavallier, President of the Wyoming ISSA Chapter.

The Wyoming ISSA Virtual Chapter meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Yet, the organization has grown to other community activities including managing the annual Cyber Cheyenne conference for technology and cybersecurity professionals and joining CyberWyoming to support Wyoming’s Cybersecurity Competition for Small Businesses.

Wyoming’s Cybersecurity Competition for Small Businesses, developed by CyberWyoming, offers free cybersecurity training for Wyoming small businesses without IT support. This 7-month program (Feb–Aug) requires just 4–6 hours per month and provides one-on-one guidance to manage security risks. Registration is open through May 1, and winners will be invited to share their success stories at a statewide conference.

National Leadership Day promotes the values of leadership in individuals and communities. By taking responsibility and leading by example, each person can contribute to a better world. Leadership is not limited to titles—anyone can be a leader by setting an example, attending a leadership workshop, and taking up leadership roles at the workplace or in the community. By prioritizing collaboration, education, and influence, ISSA empowers professionals to take proactive roles in protecting society from security threats and shaping the future of the industry.

Founded as part of the global ISSA network, Wyoming ISSA provides cybersecurity professionals with a robust platform to expand their expertise, connect with peers, and stay at the forefront of industry trends. ISSA National serves as the community of choice for over 10,000 information security professionals worldwide, empowering members to manage technology risks and protect critical information.

“Wyoming ISSA’s leadership in cybersecurity education and awareness makes them an invaluable partner in our mission. Their involvement in CyberWyoming will further enable businesses and professionals across the state to build stronger security practices,” said Laura Baker, Executive Director of CyberWyoming.
