National Consumer Protection Week 2025

It’s National Consumer Protection Week!

National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is here! This annual event empowers consumers with free resources to spot, avoid, and report scams. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and partners, including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, are raising awareness about fraud—including imposter scams, investment scams, romance scams, and fake sweepstakes.

Beware of Imposter Scams!

Scammers pose as trusted individuals—friends, family, or officials—to steal money and personal information. Watch for common scam messages:
🔹 “I’m in trouble…” – Grandparent scams
🔹 “You’ve won!” – Lottery and sweepstakes scams
🔹 “I have a great offer!” – Investment scams
🔹 “I need money for an emergency…” – Romance scams

Protect Yourself:

✔ Verify stories before sending money.
✔ Don’t rush—scammers create urgency to pressure victims.
✔ Research investments and check company reputations.
✔ Never pay to win—legitimate sweepstakes don’t ask for money.
